Miller Park – 5K – 21:42

This morning we ran our first 5K race of the season at the local zoo and park area. It was about 40 degrees with a light breeze. The course is not flat and does one partial loop inside the park and then out to the streets and then comes back into the park to finish. It felt good to get out and get into racing a shorter race again.

I ran this race Garmin and watchless. I just wanted to see what it would be like since during a short race it’s not like I need the data while running. It felt fine not having it with so I’ll just see what mood strikes me next time as to wearing it or not.

I was second female overall! I had a finishing time 21:42, which was 1st in my Age Group! Rob finished with 20:58 and was 3rd in his Age Group!

They had organized the race differently than they had in past years. Everyone received a finisher’s medal and they didn’t do anything for those that placed, so that was a bummer.

The finisher’s medal:

At least we had a great race and are feeling good! After the race the zoo was open to participants so we walked through one side on our way back to the car.

Some pictures of the animals that we saw:

  3. Hi! Congrats on your run today! Just saw that runningwarehouse.com has boston marathon adidas apparel and thought of you. It’s pretty cute stuff too!

  4. Congrats on a great place and an awesome time – esp so early in the season!

  5. Excellent work out there today! Just be careful racing so soon after a marathon (um, speaking from experience). I’ve never done a zoo run, but that seems neat.

  6. Great job!! I wish you lived closer. I could totally use someone like you to get some training runs in with!

  7. Congrats!!!! What a great race and a placement to boot!
