We’re So Goofy

The best cure for a let down race and/or injury is to register for races in the future so…..Rob and I got registered for the 2013 Goofy Challenge!! Drew will also be doing this race, I can’t wait!

I posted about this on facebook and was told by others that apparently there is a 5K that we should also do that weekend, so I need to get that registered as well!

Anyone complete the Goofy Challenge?? Any tips or favorite things you loved about this race?

  1. That sounds intense!

  2. I’m still on the fence about the Goofy Challenge. I am definitely doing the marathon, but signing up for Goofy would mean running two races slowly versus going as hard as I can on just one. Alas, decisions to make …

  3. Good luck! You are awesome and I cannot wait to see how it goes! 🙂

  4. I ran the Disney 1/2 in 2009, and enjoyed my experience. We stayed at Davenport, and rented a house for the week – wasn’t very far from the race (15 min?), and was very comfortable there. The race itself was fun, but running in between parks could be monotonous since it was running on highways pretty much the entire time. But once you got into the parks, it was quite amazing to say the least – all the Disney characters are out to cheer you on, the music was blaring, and was pretty cool to run through the castle in the Magic Kingdom!

The biggest pain in the butt (if you can even consider this one) is the race times. The races start at 6 a.m., so we had to wake up so early for race prep and to get there for parking. When I ran the half, it was almost pitch black dark until Mile 9-10, so kind of lonely running in the dark but the Magic Kingdom and Epcot made up for it. I would recommend staying a couple days after the race so you can really enjoy the parks, assuming you aren’t going to be on your feet much prior to the race. The best part is it’s offpeak, so we barely had to wait in any lines for any of the rides in Disney!

    Good luck!
