3 Miles Easy with RTW (Trail, 33:27, 11:10 Pace)
Last night was our first group meeting for Ride The Wave. I got assigned to my group, they will be in a goal pace range of 10:00-10:30. Tonight was introductions, logistics and then a casual 3 Mile run. We have three leaders per group. We had seven participants in our group, but that number may change as people figure out what pace will work best for them. The run went well and I shared some of my experiences when they had questions. It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait for the program to kick off.
Also, the Boston Marathon posted their updated qualifying times as well as the 2012/2013 registration dates and restrictions for entry. I’m sure this will cause a stir of controversy on forums and blogs. Is it enough restriction, too much, etc. Personally I don’t have an opinion either way because I don’t get caught up in the drama of it. All I need to know what the standard is for a particular race and then see if I can meet it. I don’t feel a race owes me anything for a qualifying time, etc. I’m not concerned if it seems fair enough to runners. I figure it’s their race to run as they wish, state the qualifying requirements and then I’ll try to meet them. If I can’t, I can’t. If it fills up super quick, then that’s just how it is. The same goes for getting tickets to a game or concert, so I don’t baulk at the method of selection chosen by the race. I’m just happy to see it’s announced in a timely fashion so people can plan their goals if they want to try to get in the next two years. I will always happy to get into a race that has a qualifying standard or quick registration period in part because I understand there is always a risk I may not make it in. I just wanted to share the info in case you are interested in the Boston Marathon and haven’t seen the new system they are trying.
