IL Marathon Training: Week 7 Day 6

The hotel gym was as decent as hotel gyms go. They have one treadmill, elliptical, recumbent bike and upright bike. It was small, but clean and most importantly well ventilated so it wasn’t a sauna like most hotel gyms. Could be that it wasn’t warm because no one had been in for a while too. I did 5 Miles Recovery followed by some planks and a wall sit. I’m ready to unwind and wake up for a race baby!

2010 Go! St. Louis Half Marathon Expo

Today we headed to St. Louis for the Go! St. Louis Half Marathon on Sunday. We are staying at the Omni Majestic. They are pet friendly (there is a fee) and very excited to see Coco everytime we stay, their staff is the most personable we’ve ever experienced outside of a resort, and the rooms are very nice and comfortable.

I ran this race as my first half marathon in 2008. They have since changed the course and also moved the expo location to the Chaifetz Arena. The arena was very easy to find and with the gorgeous day we were able to walk the St. Louis University campus in search of Subway for lunch.

There was no luck finding a Subway near us so we went with a local restuarant, Buffalo Brewing Company. I like to eat as bland as possible the night before a race so even though this place featured buffalo burgers and other interesting items on the menu, I stuck with a pizza of sundried tomatoes and feta cheese.

Our race goodies included a duffle bag, tech shirt and samples of sunscreen and lotion. We also stocked up at the expo on ceral and Lara Bars.

Now it’s time to check out the gym at the hotel and rest up for tomorrow morning!
