Marathon Recovery: Week 2 Day 3

Today was busy, but a lot of fun! I am going to be modeling in a fashion show for charity in January. I had to send my measurements and I have to dig up some head and body shots to submit to the coordinator. I will be getting to wear clothes from some of my favorite stores in town. I will definitely need to be getting some strength training in!

Today was also our monthly wellness event at work where we get to run around the pond by our office. It will be the last one for the year and they should start back up again around April. I had meetings and ended up getting there later than I had hoped, but I got in 4.5 miles. I was in such a rush that I forgot a hair tie, but luckily I saw our friend Tanya and she graciously gave me one to borrow. Thanks Tanya! I ran without music and just relaxed into my thoughts. The weather was perfect for running, overcast, cool and breezy.

Later tonight I felt like I had some energy still so I did 30 mins on the bike and some ab work and squats on the BOSU.

Marathon Recovery: Week 1 Complete

Coco’s health keeps improving which we are so happy about! Since she has been eating and resting well we were able to take a flight to visit our friends Drew and Kelsey for lunch.

When we got back we worked on house stuff and I had to do work to catch up from the hectic week. Then I did 5 miles recovery on the treadmill.

This is how my week turned out. I got all of my runs in over the weekend:
M-R: Rest
F: Bike 3.9 Miles Warm Up (P1, L4, 15 mins, 15.6 mph), 4 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% incline, 33:01, 8:16 pace)
Sa: Bike 3.9 Miles Warm Up (P1, L5, 15 mins, 15.6 mph), 4 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% incline, 32:31, 8:08 pace)
Su: 5 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% incline, 39:20, 7:52 pace)

Total: 13 Miles

A cool side note: I went over my running log and noticed that I passed 1,000 miles for 2009 on my Sunday run. That’s a first for me in one year, can’t wait to see what 2010 brings!

Marathon Recovery: Week 1 Day 6

We went back to the vet again today for a check up, making it everyday at the vet for the last six days. They were happy with her progress and sent us home to continue her recovery. She still isn’t eating like her normal pug self so hopefully she will perk up through the weekend. She is doing MUCH better than earlier this week so all of the medicines seem to be helping.

Since she was resting comfortably we took a short flight for lunch.


Afterward I did a 15 minute warm up on the exercise bike and then ran 4 miles easy on the treadmill.

Marathon Recovery: Week 1 Day 5

This week has been a mess beginning first thing on Monday. Our sweet doggie became sick and we have been at the vet every day this week getting tests, meds (and changing meds), IV fluids, etc for her. She finally appears to be on the road to recovery, thank goodness. Needless to say when Coco is sick our world stops and we shift everything around to make sure she gets the best care possible. I wasn’t able to get in cross training this week like I had planned, but no worries.

Tonight I did 15 minutes easy on the bike to warm up and then 4 miles recovery on the treadmill. Everything feels really good! It felt like taper in reverse, I was holding back so not to give into how nice the run felt and go too quickly.

I hope to spend the weekend getting everything back in order with the house and work. Oh and I ordered marathon pictures! I will get the posted when I receive them.
