I’m repeating Week 1 of my training plan three times so I can start it now instead of waiting until the official start of 6/22, hence the indexing as Week 1.1 Day 1.1.
Today is Rest/XT so I did:
Bike 4.5 miles (18mph pace, P1, L4)
Walk 1 mile (7% incline, 13:56 pace)
Leg Strengthening and Abs
I’ve decided to put into my cross training some walking up steeper inclines to try and build my hamstrings and glutes for hill workouts. I wish I would have thought of this sooner to better prepare for Steamboat 15K, which is a VERY hilly race from miles 3-7. The last time I ran it I said a Half Marathon was easier, now a year later I want to see if I feel the same way about this race. The awesome part is that the 4 mile race option is flat and fast. It’s a World Record setting course, attracting some of the best, which includes Women’s Winner of the Beijing Olympics Marathon, Constantina Dita! How cool is that?! Apparently this will be her eighth Steamboat. I really hope to run into her at the expo or race day.
And my favorite workout song and in general these days is “You and Me” by Dave Matthews Band. It makes me think of Rob and how wonderful he makes everything.
